Greetings Ms. Winthers!
We hope your travels have been treating you well, and that fair winds and good fortune have followed you along the road!
Your information about this Swap-Meet was most interesting. Such a curious gathering demanded further investigation, and so naturally, we had to explore this lead for ourselves!
As The Wandering Tavern continues its search for the perfect location for Newt Con, we have come to the realization that there is great value in searching for lands that offer both indoor halls and open-air grounds. A proper gathering of adventurers needs room to breathe, after all!
This voyage also marked the first time in over two years that we were able to adventure with our Wayfarer’s Chariot, which the crew has rather affectionately come to nickname Bob. It did this old Captain's heart good to see the great chariot roaming the roads once more.
On the first day, we made landfall, raised our colors, and had our little outpost established relatively quickly. We spent much of the day continuing to hone our craft. We learned a great deal about how to speak with the locals, learning their manner of speech and what caught their interest so that we could properly show them what we were capable of.
We also took some time to meet many other merchants, craftsmen, and wandering souls like ourselves who had gathered there to earn a bit of coin. There were wares to admire, stories to exchange, and plenty of interesting folk to meet. The experience was very enjoyable!
On the second day, though, we truly hit our stride. Drinks were being served, coin was changing hands, and patrons were having a great time! At times, I remember looking over our work and telling ourselves that we were beginning to feel less like simple tavern keepers and more like bartending alchemists, concocting tasty Mocktails and providing an experience with anyone adventurous enough to approach our counter. I am happy to report that the weekend was a rousing success!
After reflecting upon the experience, I must say the land itself was beautiful and full of possibility. There is certainly potential there. However, after many discussions amongst Tigress and myself, we have decided to keep tabs upon this venue while continuing our journey.
Our harbor lies somewhere beyond the horizon yet. We know that, given time, we shall find the right place. Something most curious happened this weekend, however. We were gifted a strange trinket by one of the locals, and we are very excited to see how it might aid us upon our journey. Upon closer inspection, it appears to be a cypher of some kind. I do not yet know how this curious little treasure will become part of what we are doing, but I know one thing for certain, we intend to use it. After all, what good is a valuable piece of treasure if we cannot find some way to have a bit of fun with it?
I have drawn a likeness of the trinket for you to examine, which I have attached to this letter. Have a look for yourself. Let us put our heads together and see what secrets we might coax from the thing and how we might use it to our advantage.
And so, Navigator, the question becomes, what lies next upon our voyage? We are in need of a new heading. Scout the land. Search the roads, villages, forests, and settlements ahead. See what promising places you can uncover and report back to me with your findings. Somewhere out there lies the place upon which we shall eventually plant our banner.
Your payment for locating this latest destination is enclosed with this letter.
May the roads be kind, the skies clear, and your compass true.
