Our Commitment to Accessibility

Newt Con is committed to making our website and convention experience welcoming, inclusive, and accessible to everyone.

We strive to provide an online experience that can be used by people with a wide range of disabilities and access needs, including people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, magnification, captions, alternative input devices, or other assistive technologies.

We also recognize that accessibility is an ongoing process. We regularly review our website and practices and work to identify and address barriers to access.

Website Accessibility

We aim to make our website accessible and easy to navigate by incorporating accessibility practices such as:

  • Providing meaningful alternative text for relevant images.

  • Using clear headings, labels, and descriptive links.

  • Supporting keyboard navigation throughout the website.

  • Maintaining sufficient color contrast and readable text.

  • Providing captions or transcripts for applicable video and audio content.

  • Using accessible forms and providing clear instructions and error messages.

  • Avoiding content that relies solely on color, sound, animation, or other single sensory characteristics.

  • Working to ensure compatibility with commonly used browsers and assistive technologies.

Some third-party content, services, ticketing platforms, registration systems, or embedded applications may not be fully controlled by Newt Con. We encourage our vendors and partners to provide accessible services and will work with them to address accessibility concerns when possible.

Convention Accessibility

Accessibility is important to us beyond our website. We work to make our in-person convention as accessible as reasonably possible.

Depending on the venue and services available, accessibility accommodations may include:

  • Accessible entrances, routes, elevators, and restrooms.

  • Accessible seating and viewing areas for panels, performances, and presentations.

  • Accessible registration and information services.

  • Accommodations for service animals.

  • Captioning, assistive listening, or other communication accommodations when available.

  • Quiet or low-stimulation spaces when available.

  • Reasonable accommodations for attendees, guests, exhibitors, volunteers, and staff with disabilities.

Specific accessibility services and accommodations may vary by event, venue, and program. Please check the convention's accessibility information before attending or contact us with questions about a particular need.

Cosplay and Accessibility

We welcome cosplayers of all abilities and encourage attendees to participate in ways that work for them.

Cosplay does not need to be physically demanding, elaborate, or uncomfortable to be meaningful. Attendees may modify costumes, props, makeup, footwear, mobility equipment, or other elements of their cosplay to accommodate accessibility needs.

Costumes and props must still comply with our convention's safety and prop policies. If you have questions about how an accessibility modification may interact with those policies, please contact us before the event.

Service Animals

Service animals are welcome in accordance with applicable law and venue policies.

For everyone's safety, service animals should remain under their handler's control at all times. Please refer to our convention policies or contact us if you have questions about service animals at the event.

Requesting an Accommodation

If you need an accessibility accommodation to participate in Newt Con at the venue, please contact us as early as possible.

Email: Taverninto@newtcon.com

When contacting us, please let us know what accommodation you are requesting and, when relevant, the date or program for which you need it. You do not need to provide more personal information than is necessary to help us understand and address your request.

We will make reasonable efforts to respond to accessibility requests promptly. Some accommodations may require advance notice, particularly when coordination with the venue or an outside service provider is necessary.

Feedback and Accessibility Issues

We welcome feedback about the accessibility of our website and convention.

If you encounter an accessibility barrier, have difficulty accessing information, or have a suggestion for improving accessibility, please contact us:

Email: Taverninto@newtcon.com

Please include the webpage, feature, or convention activity involved and a description of the issue, if possible. We will review your feedback and work to address accessibility issues as appropriate.

Ongoing Improvements

We are continually working to improve accessibility across our website and convention. Accessibility is an ongoing commitment, and we welcome feedback from our community to help us identify areas where we can do better.
